Sometimes we find ourselves out of balance in the world. We might feel angry, depressed, worried or generally stressed out. Something doesn't feel right. We know we have to change something, but what and how? With counselling the hope is that we can gain awareness and take useful action towards a different future. We can transform the feelings that aren't working for us anymore. We can gain clarity and perspective. We can build coping skills to smooth out the bumps.

About Me

I am a private practice counsellor and school counsellor with over 8 years of experience. I love working with all ages from kids to adults. Creativity and spontaneity infuse my work. I am not an art therapist but I like to incorporate ways to tap into the non-verbal- a painting exercise or a sand tray scene. Although my practice is mainly talk therapy based I am an ideas person that will get you thinking about your life in different ways. I like to assign homework to help you actively transform your life as it actually happens rather than just talking about it during sessions.

My Approach

My approach combines gaining wisdom from the past, grounding in the present and envisioning the future in order to move toward change. I believe the process is as important as the goal. I incorporate Adlerian ideas as well as practical Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to help you build your skill at navigating life.

The Office

I work with adults and youth 13+. I specialize in life transitions, anxiety, depression, career, parenting, fertility, anger management, emotion  regulation, LGBTQ2 and behaviour.  I use a variety of techniques including talk therapy, art therapy, skill building and practice, mindfulness, play therapy, and sandtray. I believe that the most effective counselling combines in-session exploration and between session practice. Integrating new knowledge outside of the counselling room can solidify and inform the shift of everyday life. Every person is uniquely individual and I tailor sessions to meet with your own approach and comfort level.
